Viking Seed: Practical Choices for the Way You Farm
What do we mean by Practical Choices?
Choice has always been important to us because it has always been important to our customers. Brian White says it best when he reminds me in product meetings: "Mac, let's make sure we are carrying what our customers want."
Choice is even more important these days, when there are so few seed companies that can actually offer it. Most seed corn companies trying to sell you seed are owned by Monsanto, Syngenta, Dupont, or Dow. These large multinationals own large, medium, and small seed companies. If one of these companies is trying to sell you seed, whether it's Dekalb, Pioneer, Crows, or Gold Country, they are not offering you real choice. They are offering you the genetics and traits being developed by their parent company. Want proof? Try buying Liberty Link soybeans from Asgrow or Crows. Try buying a VT3 Triple-Stack from Pioneer or Garst. Most seed companies only sell what is coming out of their pipeline.
Because we are truly independent, we have the advantage of being able to offer you real choices. We can offer you traits and germplasm from all the major seed companies, without being locked into any one of them.
Practical is a word that you may have to think about for a minute. There are a lot of ways to define practical. Here's how we define it: Practical choices are those that make economic and management sense for our customers. They are a menu of intelligent seed options that deliver both performance and value while incorporating the traits you've asked for. Take our Viking corn lineup, for example:
- Most farmers like the convenience and weed control of Roundup Ready® corn. So we offer single-trait Roundup Ready hybrids, but we also offer single-trait Agrisure® GT hybrids. Agrisure GT hybrids can be sprayed with any brand of Roundup, but are available at a lower price.
- Some farmers prefer to use Liberty-Link corn, so we offer 18 hybrids that can be sprayed with Ignite.
- We offer best-in-class VT3 Triples, for growers who like this technology, but we are also offering Agrisure 3000GT Hybrids that bring the same level of insect protection and even more herbicide flexibility ( and a lower price).
- For farmers who want rootworm & corn borer protection (without the Roundup Ready price tag) we are offering 3 Herculex Xtra hybrids.
- We also offer true conventional, non-traited corn hybrids, because some of you prefer to manage weeds and insects using conventional farming practices.
How do we decide what choices to offer? By talking with and listening to you. Now that's an interesting concept. You tell us what works for you—not the other way around.
Practical Choices that give you performance and value. That's Viking Seed.
